Valentine's day
Febuary 12, 2013
As a single girl, what is the point of dressing up for Valentine's day? Let me tell you, THERE ISN'T ONE. (Except to you know, feel good about yourself.) As you wallow in your misery of not having a date for the so called "couple's in love day"...snap out of it. Go out with your single girlfriends, have a party. DO SOMETHING but sit at home and mope. Moping isn't pretty. My rule for V-Day is wear ALL BLACK. Even your underwear. It's rebellious, like your -whispers- dark soul. I'm 22 and I have yet to ever have a Valentine. Am I sad about it? Nope. Do I wear black every year in protest of this holiday? Yes I do. It's winter, cold, and the last thing I want to do is watch people pretend that they're in love all day. So I wear black to remind myself that I am rebellious and that it's just a silly holiday.
If you're stuck on what to wear, here are some ideas that I have worn on previous Valentine's day. For the punk rocker, stone-wash gray jeans with studded ankle boots and a black sweater with a skull on the front is perfect. Skip the colorful bracelets and stick on a few gorgeous black stone rings you know you have hidden somewhere in your jewelry box. For the girly-girl, wear a black lace dress with a (yes, it has to be black) cardigan with tights and black flats. Go for some silver jewelry to lighten up the darkness of your outfit. For the comfort girl, throw on those black leggings you know you have tucked away in your pants drawer and grab your most comfy black sweater dress and knee high black boots. No accessories needed. You're welcome. I just picked out three outfit choices for you. Now go enjoy V-Day with your girlfriends! Drink a little too much and cheers to your independence and freedom from needy and possessive ex-boyfriends.

THE END OF THE COLD
March 11, 2013
You know that awkward moment between Winter and Spring when you just don't know what to wear? Do you keep wearing those drab colors and a heavy coat even when the weather is getting warmer? Or do you start throwing on florals and bright colors as soon as the temperature breaks 40 degrees? I have a rule (and on the winter days where it's almost 60 degrees, I break this rule. Hello, rules are made to be broken!) If it's Febuary, stick with the winter things, but if it's March, all bets are off. Throw on all the bright colors that you've been eyeing since January. Around the beginning of March is when I retire my winter coats, it's good for when it's cold in the mornings, but for lunchtime, and when you get off work, it's just a little too warm. My solution? A rain coat, and pack a heavy cardigan to wear under it in case it gets chilly. Enjoy the beginning of Spring and don't forget to wear bright, happy colors!
